Diamonds are a highly concentrated extract that offers the purest form of a specific cannabinoid.  THCa Diamonds from CANNA NC are the result of cold-extraction of live resin from legally-compliant hemp. With very low terpene profiles (<0.06%), discriminating enthusiasts can enjoy pure potency. THCa Diamonds are recommended for those with high cannabinoid tolerance and should be used sparingly. Diamonds can be enjoyed on their own at higher temps (between 500 and 650°F) and/or can be mixed with other resins and concentrate products to maximize the THCa content. Our THCa Diamonds are tested at a third-party DEA-certified lab and a Certificate of Analysis for each batch is available on this page.

What are THCa diamonds?

THCa Diamonds are one of the most popular types of hemp extract and are renowned for their purity. THCa diamonds get their name for their signature crystalline appearance, like semi-transparent gemstones with a shiny appearance.  THCa diamonds are renowned for their high levels of purity, sometimes as high as 99.9% THC, upon decarboxylation.  Decarboxylation can be as simple as merely heating the product.  THCa needs to be decarboxylated before use to activate their full potential and result in the same intoxicating and euphoric effects as delta-9 THC.  This heating can be as simple as dabbing or lighting the diamonds on top of a bowl!  THCa diamonds can provide a potent and intense experience. This heightened potency appeals to those seeking powerful euphoria, relaxation, and altered sensory perception, with rapid onset of the effects.

How does the chemical structure of THCa differ from THC?

THC and THCa have distinct chemical structures. Delta-9 THC is a fully formed cannabinoid with a cyclic structure, whereas THCa exists in an acid form, featuring a carboxylic acid group. This distinction is significant because it affects their interactions with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and their psychoactive properties.

Is THCa psychoactive?

Yes, with the application of adequate heat THCa can exhibit psychoactive properties.  THC is renowned for its psychoactive effects, responsible for the characteristic "high" associated with cannabis use. THCa offers very similar effects, but requires heat to convert into a fully psychoactive form. In its raw form, THCa cannot bind with the brain's cannabinoid receptors, but upon decarboxylation, it behaves as delta-9 THC.

Does THCa turn into THC?

Yes, THCa converts to delta-9 THC through the process of decarboxylation, which involves the removal of the carboxylic acid group. This transformation is triggered by heat: smoking or vaporizing cannabis, or prolonged heat exposure during cooking or drying. Once decarboxylated, THCa is converted into THC, becoming psychoactive and producing the signature D9 THC effects.

Is THCa legal in the United States?
Yes, since THCa has a different chemical structure, it does not have the same legal restrictions as the better known delta-9 THC. As such, THCa presents a safe opportunity for cannabis users to experience the therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids without turning to the black market.

You should educate yourself of local restrictions, but THCa is generally legal throughout the US.  Specific strains of hemp that are high in THCa but low in delta-9 THC meet the requirements to be treated as hemp according to the USDA, which means individuals in most of the country can acquire, possess, and utilize THCa products without breaking the law.  THCa is the precursor to THC, the compound commonly linked with a "high" effect and because of this distinction, it isn't categorized as a controlled substance, even in regions where the broader use of cannabis might be prohibited. However, the legal landscape is constantly changing and you should remain aware of any state or local restrictions on THCa products.

CANNA NC is very proudly represented by the world-renowned hemp attorney Rod Kight.  If you are interested in learning more about the legality of THCa, refer to Rod Kight’s informative blog.

Will THCa get you high?

The short answer is yes, THCa can get you high, but not in its raw form.  CANNA NC sells THCa in raw form, which cannot get you high on its own, but it can be triggered to create the signature high effects by merely burning it!  THCa needs to be decarboxylated before use to activate its wonderful properties. Heating your THCa flower will active its full potential and result in the same intoxicating and euphoric effects as delta-9 THC.  The required heating can be as simple as lighting the bud or dabbing concentrate to stimulate the euphoric effects of THC.

What are “High THCa Products”?

At CANNA NC, “High THCa Products” are hemp products that meet federal requirements (under the 2018 Farm Bill) to qualify as industrial hemp, with a significant concentration of the acid form of THC, known as THCa.  CANNA NC sells THCa in the raw form, which cannot get you high on its own, but it can be triggered to create the signature high effects by merely burning it!

Will THCa show up on a drug test?

Yes, using high THCa products may result in a failed drug test.   The structure of THC and THCa is quite similar, so it is expected that most drug tests can pick up small traces of the recently consumed cannabinoids. If you are taking raw THCa, there are chances that nothing shows up on a drug test, but once decarboxylated, a positive drug test is guaranteed.  The best way to avoid failing a drug test is to stop using any product containing THC or THCa for several months before a drug test, especially if you consume these products regularly.
